The Raft, Balboa Island 1950sThe Raft was a popular restaurant on Balboa Island, California, in the 1940s. Past celebrity residents of this year round playground included James Cagney, Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart and John Wayne and perhaps they stopped in for milkshakes so thick you have to eat them with a spoon or coffee and Cokes for 10c.
