Chatto Seven Inch Pinot Noir 2023Were back in Huon, less than a kilometre down the road from Jims property and at a vineyard overlooking Seven Inch Beach. Its a properly cold site, even by southern Tasmanian standards. I thought I was picking up some stalky notes which I immediately attributed to whole bunch fermentation. Turns out that there is zero whole bunch in this wine, deliberately, because the site is surrounded by Blue Gums which lend a herbal freshness and white pepper

The finish is grassy

savory and complex finish

There will be those of you who want both in the cellar

vibrantly fresh and firmly structured dry Riesling classic that is still a bit austere yet full of tension and terroir expression

with immediately salivating salinity

is the colour is not that intense purple that you get some years (and maybe the best ones)

No other champagne at this price has such a recipe

I'd cellar this wine for at least another 3 or 4 years to gain back the purity from last year
